Saint-Etienne vs Wolfsburg Prediction & Match Preview
Saint-Etienne vs Wolfsburg
Date: Thursday, 3 October 2019
Kick-off at 17:55 UK / 18:55 CET
Venue: Stade Geoffroy-Guichard (Saint-Étienne).
Saint-Etienne failed to salvage even a point in their opening clash against Gent on the road, with the final scores reading 3-2 in favor of the latter. The hosts certainly put up a good fight in that matchup and registered a total of eleven attempts at goal, three of which right on target.
However, it needs saying that the home team have been struggling in their domestic campaign and are currently just two points shy of hitting rock bottom.
Their foes for the week, Wolfsburg, were able to pick up a comfortable 3-1 victory in their respective opener against Oleksandriya. The visitors were without a doubt much the better side in that clash and are boasting an eight-match unbeaten run across all competitions at the moment as well.
Given the dismal form that Saint-Etienne are on, it looks like even home advantage will not be enough to stop Wolfsburg from walking away with the bragging rights in this one.

Saint-Etienne vs Wolfsburg Prediction
The home team’s fall from grace has been swift, to say the least. It is also worth mentioning the squad have not had a taste of success at home in the new season, with their most recent clash here ending in a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Metz.
In addition, Wolfsburg have been showing a lot more conviction on the pitch and have picked up the win in two of their previous three outings. Taking into account that they will also be making the trip to France on the back of a 1-0 victory over Mainz back in the Bundesliga, Saint-Etienne have little or no chance in causing an upset.
However, two out of the last three home games for Saint Etienne have seen them force their opponents in sharing the spoils with them at the least. Considering that one of the previous two trips on the road for the guests also ended in a draw, the safest punt would have to be a double chance favoring Wolfsburg.
Furthermore, the hosts have found the back of the net thrice already from their past three home games. With the visitors scoring five from their last three outings as well, you just cannot rule out the possibilities of a high scoring clash unfolding this Thursday.
