Mallorca vs Espanyol
Spain – LaLiga
Date: Sunday, 6 October 2019
Kick-off at 11:00 UK/ 12:00 CET
Venue: Estadio de Son Moix (Palma de Mallorca).
Espanyol has no other option but to field a full-strength eleven against this minnow in order to get their season back on track. They do have the away handicap to deal with, but taking into account the dismal form of the hosts, Magico should be able to script a win this Sunday.
Mallorca vs Espanyol Head-to-head (h2h)
The last time these two met, Budgerigars recorded a 3-2 victory.
Eight of the former thirteen games had goals at either end of the pitch.
13 of the previous 15 fixtures at this venue had the home team finding the back of the net.
Five of the prior eight meetings at this stadium had the hosts keeping clean sheets.
Two of the last three games saw Leonardo Sanches’s men winning.
Mallorca vs Espanyol Prediction
Mallorca tried their best to avoid a defeat the last day, but they eventually had to bow against the resilience of Alaves. Towards the end of the game, with just 15 minutes remaining on the clock, Vicente Moreno’s men conceded twice to lose the tie.
Espanyol meanwhile, made a joke out of their disadvantage of being on the road and scored a win to nil over CSKA Moscow in their Europa League tie to advance their continental hopes.
The Vermilions are going through a period of struggle, as they are winless in their previous seven games on the trot, of which six were losses, and remained winless in ten of their former eleven too. The squad also conceded twice or more in five of their former six fixtures.
On the other hand, their counterparts have lost just 4 of their preceding 27 match-ups, and on the road, they are on an unbeaten run of long 14 trips. They had also managed to find the back of the net twice or more in three of their prior four such ties.
Taking into account the respective forms of either, and the fact that the Vermilions are a new addition to this competition, the chances for the guests to win are very high.
Still, with the current struggles of Magico in the league at present, and their away handicap in mind, rooting for a clean sheet for the squad would be a bit too much.
