Colombia vs Peru Prediction
Colombia admitted defeat for the first time since their Copa America exit in the summer after the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations Champions Algeria took them down with a whopping 3-0 scorecard last month. Despite registering as many shots at goal as the Algerians in that clash, Carlos Queiroz’s men were far from clinical in their efforts and were consigned to a defeat without so much as a consolation goal to their name.
Nevertheless, it needs saying that the loss was just their first in four games. On the other hand, Peru have been erratic in their clashes building up to this fixture. Their last clash at home saw them hold Uruguay to a 1-1 draw, while on the road, they were at the losing end of a 1-0 scorecard, against the very same foe.
The 2019 Copa America runners-up have not been faring well in their previous h2h clashes with Colombia on the road either. All of their last ten games have witnessed Peru either sharing the spoils or at the losing end.
Taking into account that Colombia have also managed no more than a draw in three of the last four games, the safest punt in this one would have to be a draw no bet favoring Colombia.
Furthermore, Queiroz’s side have not looked sharp in their recent matchups and have failed to find the back of the net in their previous three clashes in a running. Meanwhile, Peru have not shown any conviction in the final third either and have scored just twice from their last four games.
With all but one of their past ten h2h meetings also turning into low scoring affairs, expect goals to be scarce this weekend.
